The Illus Caden is a Libra Engine publication, and I, Chad Lewine, run it. This page explains what the site stores in your browser, why it is there, and how to change your mind about any of it.
1. What a Cookie Is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. The browser sends it back on later visits, which is how a site remembers a choice you made. Cookies cannot run programs or read anything else on your device.
2. Your Choice
On your first visit a bar at the bottom of the page asks how you want the site to behave. Accept All turns analytics on. Reject Optional leaves it off. Manage shows each category so you can decide one at a time.
Whatever you pick is saved for one year in a single cookie, and the bar stays out of your way after that. You can change the choice at any time: the Cookie preferences link in the footer clears it and brings the bar back.
Nothing optional loads before you have answered. If you never answer, the site behaves as if you had rejected everything optional.
3. Essential Cookies
These keep the site working and cannot be switched off. None of them identify you.

4. Analytics Cookies
These are off until you turn them on. With your consent the site loads Google Analytics 4, which sets the cookies below.

What I see from it is which pieces get read, how long people stay, roughly where in the world they came from (city level at best, taken from the IP address and then discarded), and what kind of device they used. I do not see who you are. Google Analytics 4 does not store full IP addresses, and this site does not use any of its advertising features, so nothing here follows you to other websites.

5. Requests to Other Companies That Are Not Cookies
The typefaces on this site load from Google Fonts. Your browser fetches them from Google’s servers, so Google sees your IP address and the page you requested them for, the same as it would for any image on any site. Google Fonts does not set a cookie and does not use those requests for advertising.
No other third party is contacted while you read. There are no embedded social buttons or ad networks, and no tracking pixels.
6. Things That Are Stored, but Not in a Cookie
If you subscribe to the newsletter or send a message through the contact page, the address and text you entered are kept on the server, not in your browser. That is a separate matter from cookies and is covered by the Privacy Policy.
7. Your Browser’s Own Controls
Every browser lets you see and delete cookies, or block them outright, either for all sites or for this one. Blocking everything will not break the site for reading. It will make the consent bar reappear on each visit, because the cookie that remembers your answer is one of the ones you blocked.
8. Changes
If the cookies on this site change, this page changes with them, and the date below moves. I do not send notices about it.
