The Unified Charge Chart begins on June 8, 2026. Until June 11, 2026 it combined fewer than four music charts.
Still counting past days, a few at a time so the Compass is never rushed: 131 of 141 so far. Days not yet counted show as empty columns.

Historical trajectory
Today's charge on each music chart
- Spotify Top 50 - USA +100 Decent
- iTunes Download Chart - USA +100 Decent
- Shazam Top 200 - USA +100 Decent
- YouTube Trending - USA +100 Degraded
Each bar runs left of center for a negative charge and right of it for a positive one, on the same −100 to +100 scale. The Unified Charge Chart combines these music charts into the single chart counted above.
How the Pop Music Tracker works
The Rising Compass describes itself as a tool that analyzes and tracks the messages found in popular music.
It reads the lyrics of each song on the charts it follows and gives the song a charge from −100 to +100, which places the song in one of five tiers. This page sorts those tiers by the direction of the message and counts them.
| Tier | Charge | Counted here as |
|---|---|---|
| Ascended | +75 to +100 | Positive messaging |
| Elevated | +25 to +74 | Positive messaging |
| Decent | −24 to +24 | Neutral (Decent) |
| Degraded | −25 to −74 | Negative messaging |
| Corrupted | −75 to −100 | Negative messaging |
The Unified Charge Chart is the Compass's combination of four daily US music charts: the Spotify Top 50, the iTunes download chart, the Shazam Top 200 and YouTube Trending. A song that appears on several of them is listed once.
Every charge here is the Compass's, read from it once a day at noon Eastern, so a song the Compass recalibrates updates here on its own, within a week at most. The Illus Caden only counts. The Rising Compass methodology explains how a charge is made.
